For this project, we studied the biology behind cancer, and what it really is. We studied what causes cancer, how it's treated, and much more.
Cell model mini project
For this mini project, we each chose a cell, studied, and made a model of it. I chose to study the white blood cell, and I created a clay model, that showed the inside and outside of the cell, along with it's most important organelles.

For my Cancer project, I answered the question, How does cancer treatment affect us physically, socially, and emotionally? To answer this question, I created the above art piece, which shows how a person's life might be without cancer, compared to how having cancer sort of turns your life upside down, and all the things that are different. I really enjoyed making this art piece, and thinking about the ways cancer affects a person. I really struggled with finding how to show the differences effectively, so that the viewers could understand. From this project, I learned that cancer isn't just a disease that you could die from, but something that changes your life entirely. From this project, I grew in my understanding that it's very important to learn from real people what something is like, such as going through cancer, instead of making assumptions based on what I already know about it.
